American Girl Adopts Huegel Elementary School

During summer 2012, Huegel Elementary was adopted by American Girl, nationally known for their line of premium-quality dolls, books, clothes, and toys for girls ages 3 to 12.

One of the first things American Girl did after establishing the relationship was organize a backpack drive to kick off the school year, in which they surpassed their goal of 100 backpack donations and collected 150 backpacks along with some extra monetary donations for the school.

American Girl is also planning additional ways to support students such as a coat and mitten drive and providing a book display of American Girl’s popular series. The book display, donated by American Girl, incorporates American Girl’s focus on reading and learning with Huegel’s Positive Behavior Reward System.

Through the partnership with American Girl, made possible by the Foundation’s Adopt-a-School program, Huegel received the opportunity to make a positive impact on the entire student body. By connecting students with adult mentors, the partnership offers both Huegel and American Girl the chance to foster strong relationships with school staff and students.
