Orchard Ridge Elementary Outdoor Education & Literacy Program

Through Orchard Ridge Elementary School’s endowment fund, the school purchased materials to strengthen and support oral language and vocabulary development. By funding this program, FMPS and Orchard Ridge hope to improve the literacy levels of students in all grades.

Income from Orchard Ridge’s school endowment fund is also being used toward an overnight trip for 4th and 5th graders to Poynette’s Mackenzie Environmental Education Center. Mackenzie offers students a diverse experience of outdoor education, encompassing 250 acres of prairie and forest lands, nature trails, an arboretum, and an observation tower. By funding the trip, Orchard Ridge and FMPS will provide students with a unique hands-on opportunity to explore environmental topics outside of their classroom.
