FMPS’ ABC Funds provides schools the opportunity to fundraise without the accounting worries. Individual schools, groups such as a PTO or booster club, or even a group of individuals can create an ABC Fund for a special program or project that benefits students. The Foundation serves as the manager of the funds including acknowledging donors, ensuring proper accounting for gifts, distributing funds, and assisting with promotion of the fund. With the Foundation’s assistance, groups can focus on fundraising and leave the clerical work to us.
FMPS’ ABC Funds vary greatly based on the purpose and include anything from scholarships to capital projects. Through these funds, we have helped construct new playgrounds and renovate a school auditorium. Other ABC Funds have been used to support art and drama departments or improve students’ access to dental care. Funds can support a specific school or can be district-wide and address the needs of many students. An example of a district-wide fund is FMPS’ Breakfast Program Fund that provides breakfast for all Madison public school students who qualify for reduced-price lunch. ABC Funds present the opportunity to support a great variety of projects and improvements within Madison’s public schools and are a great way to get involved with the Foundation!
